They all want Chips🍟
Nvidia's Rubin, Intel's Lunar Lake, and AMD's MI325X the next-gen AI chips promise unprecedented power, efficiency, and intelligent computing as tech giants battle for dominance in the AI revolution.
Almost every company now is rushing towards building their own chips. Not just any chips.
A few weeks back, Nvidia launched the world's most powerful chip, the B200, which is part of the Blackwell architecture. A few days back, Nvidia unveiled its new AI chip architecture, called "Rubin," which is set for release in 2026.
Intel's Lunar Lake laptop processors and AMD's MI325X accelerator are also releasing new AI chip architectures to meet the growing demand for powerful and efficient AI solutions.
Like I said, these are not “any” chips, they’re AI Chips, that can work more efficiently for AI Models.
Why?
Well, traditional chips are in simple sense too stressed.
They work on hardware, software, coordinate both of them so they’re always under pressure.
These AI Chips are smart. They don’t have to worry about hardware and coordination, they only worry about AI Software, making them efficient.
Groq was one of the first companies to bring these chips out. Video has been added for you.
But now all new companies are literally pouncing on it.
Let’s dive in!
Stuff you should know
Nvidia Unveiled its AI chip Architecture

Nvidia has unveiled its next-generation AI chip architecture called "Rubin", which is set for release in 2026. The Rubin chip family will include new GPUs, CPUs, and networking processors, with the new CPU called "Versa" aimed at improving AI capabilities. One key difference between the Rubin and the previously announced Blackwell chip is the size of the reticle design, with the Rubin's 4x reticle design taking up more space on a 12-inch silicon wafer compared to the Blackwell's 3.3x design. The launch of the Rubin platform demonstrates Nvidia's commitment to expanding AI technology and meeting the growing demand for powerful AI solutions across various industries, from data centers to autonomous vehicles. However, specific details about the Rubin chip's features and capabilities were not disclosed during the announcement.
Key Stats-
Components:
New GPUs
New CPUs (including "Versa" CPU for improved AI capabilities)
New networking processors
Memory:
Uses next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM4) from industry giants including SK Hynix, Micron, and Samsung
Reticle Design:
4x reticle design, larger than the Blackwell chip's 3.3x design
Release Schedule:
Nvidia plans to release a new family of AI chips every year, accelerating from its previous biennial release schedule
Goals:
Expand AI technology and meet growing demand for powerful AI solutions across industries
Maintain Nvidia's market leadership in AI chip production
Market Position:
Dominates around 80% of the AI chip market, positioning it as a key enabler and beneficiary of the rapidly growing AI industry
Intel’s Most Powerful Laptop Processor

Intel has unveiled its new Lunar Lake laptop processors, marking a significant shift in the company's approach to power-efficient and AI-enhanced PCs. The processors feature a low-power architecture for all E-cores, resulting in significant power savings and performance enhancements.
Additionally, the Xe2 GPU is integrated into the chip package, and embedded DRAM is used to reduce latency and power usage by 40%.The Lunar Lake chips also include a dedicated AI controller that monitors the system in real-time, making incremental adjustments to power and speed to optimize performance and battery life. This results in improved AI performance, with the NPU 4 AI core delivering 48 TOPS (tera operations per second) of AI performance, a significant improvement over the 11.5 TOPS in previous Meteor Lake chips.
The enhanced AI capabilities are aimed at enabling the next generation of 'Copilot+' PCs with improved local AI processing for applications like Microsoft's Copilot.
AMD Unveils Its New AI Processors

AMD showcased its latest artificial intelligence (AI) processors, the MI325X accelerator, which is set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024. This move marks AMD's strategy to compete with industry leader Nvidia in the AI chip market.
The MI325X accelerator is part of AMD's plan to challenge Nvidia's dominance in the AI chip market. Nvidia currently holds about 80% of the market share for AI semiconductors. AMD aims to release new AI chips annually, mirroring Nvidia's strategy of releasing new chips every year.
AMD CEO Lisa Su emphasized that AI is the company's top priority, with all development capabilities focused on this area. To keep pace with the market's demand for newer products and capabilities, AMD plans to release new AI chips annually, mirroring Nvidia's strategy. The MI325X accelerator is designed to improve performance and efficiency in AI applications, and AMD plans to continue releasing new AI chips annually to stay competitive in the market.
